off for 10 days. Treatment remains in the pond for a further 10 days, making it

You must have good water to use this product, so please send water test
results on your email order.

Bacterial Treatment Plus
This is an ulcer
treatment using a similar, but stronger, version of the bacterial treatment
above, to which you add alcohol (I found a good whisky is ideal).
It comes
in a 2gm packet which will make around 20 treatments and takes the form of a
paint on, which remains on the fish for a long time - days not hours - and the
alcohol takes the treatment deep into the wound. My test results have been very
good - remember an ulcer caught early and treated is a healed ulcer.
It
comes with full instructions for use.

Wound Disinfectant with Sterilising Salt
You add salt
to ½ pint of cold boiled water 4-5 hours prior to treatment to allow the
salt to dissolve. With this saline solution, you clean and remove any necrotic
tissue around and on the would, including ulcers. Then dry with paper towelling
and paint the infected area with the amber coloured liquid. Keep the fish out
of the water for at least 2 minutes to allow to dry.
This can be
repeated every three days.
If there is no response after three
applications (i.e. white tissue) then the would or ulcer is not
superficial.

- Potassium Permanganate *
100% pure fine powder dissolves
instantly
50gm £10.30 P&P £3.00 or collection.
To
make potassium permanganate paste, add 2gm of this product to 0.5ml of boiled
water - add the water whilst it's still too hot for your fingers and mix well
for at least 5 mins. Allow to stand and cool. Use within 3 hours.
It
will not burn the fish like iodine would if the wound is deep. It can be used
on lips, head, fins and body but dilute 50% for eyes.
Note keep away
from inside the gills and throat. Keep the fish out of water for at least 2-4
mins (the longer it's on the fish before it's returned to the water the better
it will work - I allow 5-10 mins). It can be done without anesthetic, but use
anesthetic when wound / ulcer/ infected fin ray base are large or well
advanced, or on a lymphocystis tumour.
Potassium permanganate needs to
be applied once every 4 days, or until healing is seen (new whitish tissue),
with a maximum 4 treatments. Then leave to heal. If no healing is seen then
it's more serious than you thought.
Note - only use high grade and fresh
potassium permanganate or you will make the infected area worse or even
encourage a bacterial infection. DRY AND CLEAN the WOUND before any of the
above. Do not use below 15oC.

- Blanket Weed Treatment.(aquatic herbicide)
This WILL remove all blanket weed.
Requires two treatments. Treatment will damage lilies and submerged and
floating water plants, so remove these before treatment, and remove ALL blanket
weed on them. Keep these plants out of the pond for the full 8 week treatment.
This is the only way to remove this unwanted weed. Pussy footing about with
this problem will get you no where. The blanket weed will be gone within 4
weeks. The second dose kills the weed's roots. It will not damage fish or
filters. Filters need to be running, and will need to be cleaned after the
first and second dose. Recommended times of treatment: October to December and
March to May, which will then allow you to use a more organic and plant
friendly form of treatment, which as you know, will only keep blanket weed on a
slow growth cycle not kill it.

which is easily identified as fungus. It goes green and the fish looks like its
got green fur growing on its body.

Full instructions included.
This is a pure
organic treatment -1oz per gallon is minimum dose. It's too expensive to be
used in a pond. When I did trials in 2000, I used treatment ponds 20-30-50-100
gallons with goldfish shubunkins and a 2000- 4000 gallon stocked with koi and
sturgeon. (Do not use with orfe rudd or tench) Both systems results were
fantastic. It can be used with supaverm, malacite green and acriflavin. On test
it was used against all the above and all infections cleared without the use of
any of additional chemicals other than supaverm, as one of the test ponds
fishes had saprolegnia fungus, but they where also massively infected with body
fluke.
